Food Traceability: Securing the Food Supply Chain workshop

TechInsights announced the final agenda for the "Food Traceability: Securing the Food Supply Chain" workshop to be held during the RFID World 2008 conference. The workshop addresses recent food safety crises and includes a presentation of the results of an extensive produce traceability case study funded by the Economic Development Alliance of Hawaii and administered by the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation. Workshop attendees will learn about new tools and technologies for food supply chain optimization and authentication including specific information about RFID tag and reader systems, data management solutions and implementation services. Targeted toward agriculture, produce and meat manufacturers, distributors and retailers, the day-long Food Traceability workshop will also cover the following topics:
- Achieving end-to-end food safety
- Opportunities and challenges using RFID in the livestock industry
- Temperature monitoring throughout the supply chain
- Strategies to integrate the paper trail with the product trail
- Using thin printed batteries for temperature monitoring in food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications
- From food safety to demand planning: leveraging RFID-enabled visibility across the supply chain
Washington Public Policy Conference

U.S. Representative Collin Peterson and Representative Rosa DeLauro, the leading Farm Bill and food safety/nutrition advocates in Congress respectively, will address the produce industry at the annual United Fresh Washington Public Policy Conference (WPPC). WPPC attendees will also hear from one of the leading food safety and nutrition advocates in Congress, Representative Rosa DeLauro. Representative DeLauro, Chairwoman of the Agriculture-FDA Appropriations Subcommittee, has been a on the forefront of nutrition and food safety for over a decade. Passionately fighting to expand the Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program nationally, to grant access to fruits and vegetable to school children in schools, she has also been one of the strongest proponents for a strong FDA food safety regime. In Friday morning’s Breakfast General Session, Chairwoman DeLauro, will offer her views on what Congress can do to help address food safety challenges.
WPPC 2008 provides attendees unique access to Washington, D.C. decision makers, and gives industry members the power to engage their elected officials in issues important to the produce industry supply chain. This year’s WPPC will be held at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel, in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C.
3rd Annual Marketing and Sales Summit

The ISA Management Division will hold its 3rd Annual ISA Marketing and Sales Summit in Cleveland, Ohio. 11th Americas Food & Beverage Show

The Americas Food & Beverage Show, September 24-26 in Miami Beach, is the largest Americas-focused trade show in the hemisphere for the F&B industry.
